Abstract :
This paper studies the left-turn of non-power-driven vehicles in the condition of little interference to motor vehicles at signal intersections, and puts forward an oblique way crossing the street for left-turn nonpower-driven vehicles. It first compares the oblique crossing way with the traditional left-turn of nonpower-driven vehicles through an example. Then makes a simulation by means of VISSIM and calculates the capacity and travel delay, thus to verify the formula in HCM that applies to bicycles also is applicable to non-motor vehicles. At last, the comparison between computational travel delay and the simulation delay shows that: the average delay can be reduced by 53.8%, and the crossing time and waiting time can be reduced by 40.6% when the non-motor vehicles turn left by the left-turn phrase of motor vehicles.
