Abstract :
A compact within-pulse sector scanning sonar which is based on a time-domain approach and hence differs from conventional modulation scanning systems is described. A 32-input non-uniform time-delay-and-integrate charge coupled device has been designed and fabricated to implement the system. Experimental results are presented for a 500 KHz sonar scanning a 1 beam over a 30° sector at a scanning rate of 8 KHz.
