Abstract :
This manuscript summarizes progress made toward automated low-order, physics-based modeling techniques for electromechanical devices. These techniques begin with reliable high-order models and extract mathematically a reduced model that preserves the most important dynamic characteristics. Linear and nonlinear model order reduction techniques are set forth. Examples for several aspects of electromechanics such as eddy currents, 3-D effects, saturation, hysteresis, laminated stacks, and relative motion are explored.
