Abstract
Mie theory has been applied to large particles of size one to 50 microns in diameter. Our results indicate: 1. The angular dependent part of the scattering coefficient is relatively constant over the small angles between 0-10 degrees. Thus we expect a small variation in the intensity of the scattered photons. 2. The amplitude dependent parts of the scattering coefficients which are functions of particle size and the index of refraction show cyclic resonance effects for large particles. 3. Comparing our results with known experimental work it can be concluded that Mie theory does not predict the scattering properties properly at smaller angles between 0-0.4 degrees
