Abstract :
Packet flooding is an important issue in ad hoc networks. Though packet flooding is used frequently in ad hoc network, it consumes limited wireless bandwidth very much. Some schemes such as cluster based or multi point relay can reduce bandwidth consumption in packet flooding. However, these methods need periodical beacon. The beacon increase overhead considerably under high node density or high node mobility. This paper presents sector based flooding (SBF) which uses position information effectively. In SBF each node divides communication area into some sectors and the only node in each sector can relay flooding packets. SBF can execute packet flooding with small bandwidth consumption
