Abstract :
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fields the largest civilian diving complement of any Federal agency. When NOAA was formed in 1970, various scientific agencies were consolidated. Their diving programs and personnel were also brought together and have evolved over these last 12 years into a safe and efficient underwater team. The NOAA Diving Program is responsive primarily to the research endeavors of the NOAA scientist yet also may benefit the general diving community.
