Abstract :
We call a CG character with intelligent autonomy a humanoid agent. The humanoid agent technique has the potential to open up new worlds in consumer electronics, especially in the fields of communication and entertainment. We explain the mechanism of HAE (humanoid agent engine) driven by a human\´s emotion and "KANSEI" (intuition) as a core technique. We also describe two applications, virtual TV phone and dancing agent, applying the core technique. Virtual TV phone is a novel application for enjoying a conversation with a humanoid agent. Dancing agent is a more evolutionary 3D visual and musical entertainment coupled with MusicSommelier/spl trade/ . Additionally, we discuss the direction of future research with respect to humanoid agent techniques from the point of view of three communication category types: (1) communication between a human and a humanoid agent; (2) catalytically stimulating communication among humans; (3) communication between humanoid agents.
