Abstract :
It was decided to cover the 1989 BBC Radio 1 Roadshow tour around the coast using a satellite system if it could be provided in time. An order was placed with Advent Communications for a Fly Away uplink system with a 1.9 m dish and a downlink with 3 m dish for reception at Broadcasting House. At this time further tests were continuing with `DS1´ and `Nicam´ as coding options for the satellite transmissions
