Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present an in situ algorithm for measurements of transmission loss in real time via explosion sounds. The algorithm employs digital signal processing with a general purpose minicomputer and covers a broad spectrum. The system takes into account true ambient noise (i.e., the spectrum lines produced by the ship making the measurements are accounted for) and it takes into account the spectrum of the source.
