Abstract :
In the wavelet based fractal compression techniques the fractal range and domain blocks are selected to be wavelet sub-tree coefficients. The search process is performed between a range sub-tree and a pool of domain sub-trees. In this paper, a new adaptive technique, which is based on a variable sized wavelet subtree, is developed. The adaptation is through the selection of the suitable allowed quality of compressed images. Simulation results show that the proposed technique gives a better performance than the previous published techniques on the expense of a longer processing time
