Abstract :
This paper deals with the types of atmospheric and oceanographic environmental products required in support of naval warfare. It discusses the quantitative and spatial limitations of environmental data gathered from conventional systems and a look at recent national progams for operational space-borne oceanographic systems. Examples of environmental products with and without space observed data are presented. A brief discussion of the Navy´s future plans completes the presentation.
