Abstract :
In this paper, a raster-based spatio-temporal marine data model is designed by analyzing the characteristic and limitations of several typical spatio-temporal data models. It is a multilevel grid data model, and it takes into account space, time and attribute factor adequately. It has the advantages of simplicity and practicability, and it can also well organize and manage the marine data, especially the data in raster formats. Then, the model is applied to the marine database of MEIS developed by HEU. The instance sets a good example for the studies on spatio-temporal marine data models.
