Abstract
Initial selection of snaxels is an important issue in active contour model. In this paper, an improved automatic initial snaxel selection with corner tracing by searching along scan lines emitted from object´s approximate center-of- gravity and end points of object skeleton is proposed. The proposed method improves our previous work in tracing corner point as initial snaxels such that not only the accuracy of snaxel selection is increased but corner of snaxels are traced out. With the improvement, the proposed method obtains better initial snaxels and final active contour after snake evolution than the existing method for both artificial and real CT medical image.
