Abstract
In general, computer programs written to solve electromagnetic problems involve iterative numerical techniques and potentially long computation times. Therefore, errors encountered during program execution can prove costly. One class of errors which can be minimised is that due to invalid and inconsistent input data. The paper describes briefly a method of data entry and validation which has been successfully applied to a number of computer programs written to solve electromagnetic problems. The approach which has been adopted consists essentially of developing interactive preprocessors for data entry and validation which are separate from the calculation segments but which communicate via common data structures
