Abstract
This paper introduces a design method of WSN node and gateway node for monitoring environmental status in a tea plantation. Each of the sensing nodes was composed of an ATmega128L micro-processor and a CC2420 transceiver module. Micro controller S3C2410X was used as the kernel of hardware platform in the gateway node. The networking experiments were conducted both in laboratory and tea plantation with MESH Routing Protocol to evaluate network performance under different net scales and different modes of node deployment. Result show that the system can collect the temperature and humidity of the tea plantation and transmit remotely to the base station. An effective solution for monitoring the environment of the complicated geographical conditions like tea plantation was explored, which can be taken as an example of the solution for in-field measurements.
