Results of regional coastal waves workshops

During the Spring of 1982 the Coastal Waves Program of NOAA joined with the American Society of Civil Engineers in hosting a series of regional workshops to identify user requirements and applications of coastal wave data and to address the quality and quantity of available wave data and derived statistics. As a part of the meetings the current NOAA and Corps of Engineers wave programs were presented together with those programs sponsored by state and other sources. From each of the workshops a consensus was generated which reflects user requirements and real needs applicable to each region of the Nation. These statements form a basis for industry and academia to impact federal, state, and industry programs and the funding necessary for collection and dissemination of suitable coastal wave information.
