Abstract
The Location Based Service (LBS) is one of the important topics in the system description document of IEEE 802.16m. Before a LBS can be provided to a user, the current location of the user should be known by the system. In this paper, we propose a network managed location identification (NMLI) scheme for IEEE 802.16m networks. According to the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) and Angle of Arrival (AOA) measurement results between the Advanced Mobile Station (AMS) and Advanced Base Station (ABS)/Advanced Rely Station (ARS), the location server can calculate the location of the AMS. The AMS location information can be used by the follow-up LBS. Simulation results show that the localization error of NMLI is lower than that of the previous schemes.
