Abstract
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) should improve the power supply available from the electrical utility, both in continuity and quality. The author briefly discusses the requirements of UPS systems and then describes a rotary UPS using induction coupling energy storage. It employs a principal of parallel connection which takes into account the inherent reliability of the public mains supply. The system consists of three basic elements: a filter unit, an emergency unit (diesel engine), and the induction coupling. Emergency operation and mains restoration are discussed
