Abstract
A small size broadband microstrip patch antenna for 14.0GHz radar application with multiple substrates had been fabricated using LTCC technology. A combination of a relatively low dielectric constant LTCC substrate and a relatively high dielectric constant LTCC substrate had been incorporated to reduce the effect of trade-off relationship between antenna size and bandwidth. The antenna concept was based on aperture-fed patch with two slots. The proposed antenna by simulation could achieve 5.83dB absolute gain of 14GHz and the bandwidth of 10dB return loss in 420MHz. Compared with traditional microstrip antenna with rectangular patch and single material of substrate, the antenna could indeed reduce the size of the antenna and increase the bandwidth of the antenna significantly.
