Abstract :
A polarization diversity adaptive antenna array using a tripole array is presented in this paper. Tripole array constitutes three mutually perpendicular dipoles all with their centers at the same location. This antenna adapts to desired user polarization as well as angle of arrival. It minimizes bit error rate (BER) better through polarization diversity when desired user and other interfering users arrive from the same direction or are very close to the desired user direction but with different polarizations. Simulation results show that the array, with minimum bit error rate approach, provides significant performance gain in terms of smaller BER over standard minimum mean square error (MMSE) approach. This array can be used for polarization diversity along with spatial diversity
