Abstract :
To improve the performance of PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization), a modified algorithm named SCPSO (Space Condensation Particle Swarm Optimization) is put forward. The SCPSO compresses the search space of particles step by step according to a convergence function. To realize the application in engineering design conveniently, the SCPSO is embedded into computational kernel of FLAC (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua). By the coupled method of SCPSO and FLAC, the cooperation between stability calculation of FLAC and parameters optimization of SCPSO is obtained at the same time. The case study of Niujiaoping tunnel shows that SCPSO-FLAC is very useful in tunnel supporting design.
