Abstract :
Information theoretic channel capacity provides a basic figure of merit to analyze the performance of coded modulation. This paper presents analytical results on the PPM capacity of terrestrial FSO channels, considering the important link impairments in terms of fog attenuation and atmospheric turbulence. We mathematically model the Poisson PPM capacities using the log-normal and exponential distributions to cater for different turbulent conditions
