Abstract :
Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a kind of wireless computer network in which there is not an access point. Each node moves freely in the network area and sends its packets and forwards other nodes packets. One of the biggest challenges in MANETs is the design of scalable routing protocols. With the development and application of position devices, location-based routing has received a growing attention. An important component of these protocols is the management of the location information at network nodes, which is done by location services. In this paper we suggest such a scheme which we call Cellular Aggregated Location Management (CALM). It scales well in large mobile ad-hoc networks. Simulation results show that under a specific environment the overhead cost of CALM is asymptotically lower than common methods proposed for MANETs.
