Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The Generic Sonar Model is a computer program designed to provide sonar system developers with a comprehensive modeling capability for evaluating the performance of sonar systems and investigating the ocean environment in which they operate. The model provides features not presently available in any single computer program. These permit cost/accuracy trade-offs for specific applications, and interfacing the results with generalized warfare models. The approach adopted is to use a modular design, adhere to a strict programming standard, and to implement existing software when practical.
