Abstract :
It is noted that many practitioners struggle with the application issues of what information should reside in executive information systems (EIS) and how the information can be selected and made effective. The author addresses these issues based on eleven years of operational experience with the Lockheed MIDS (Management Information and Decision Support) system. The selection and treatment of information for the MIDS system was performed in two phases. The initial phase examined the existing flow of data for information of value to the executive and then used color graphics to add the values of trends and exception reporting. The second phase of information selection and treatment is an ongoing sustaining and enhancing phase
