Abstract :
An approach and a set of tools are provided for integral computer support of information system building. They are based on and integrate currently popular techniques such as structured analysis and entity-relationship modeling. Additional components are provided that complement and formalize the above approaches and make it possible to automatically generate code. It is concluded that it is feasible to give integral and consistent computer support to information system building, from user-oriented requirements specification to code generation. A working prototype of a support software system that demonstrates this is being routinely used for computer-supported system development at a graduate information system course at the University of Chile
