Uprating of a 30 kV overhead line to 90 kV

The authors examine the uprating of a 30 kV French overhead power system in order to meet increased demand. The lines were to be substituted by a 90 kV network and the authors describe the study, design and construction of a prototype 20 km stretch of line. The advantages and drawbacks of the new system are also discussed
