Abstract :
Due to modern microprocessor and communication technology the development and the use of integrated systems for protection local control and remote control purposes in substations can be carried out. According to the solutions of conventional technology, which directly assigns contacts to its different duties, there is a requirement for communication control, to distribute information within such systems. The authors describe the switchgear and the secondary equipment of a representative medium-voltage substation under special consideration of the data flow. They determine the data flow in quantity and show possible occurrences of bottlenecks. The structure of a system for control and protection purposes of substations is derived from the results mentioned above, as well as a structure showing the decentralization of functions and the strategies on data flow control
