Abstract :
The approximately analytic solution of the differential equation of the damped vibration of a strongly cubic nonlinear oscillator has been obtained by improved elliptic function averaging method. The result is proven to be valid by numerical experiments. The properties of damped vibration of a cubic nonlinear system are discussed according to the approximate expression.
