Abstract :
The author discusses the importance of surface features in good MMI design in the context of IPSE 2.5. During the course of the IPSE 2.5 project, which involved the specification and design of user interface components, an IPSE 2.5 house style was explored and represented by a number of standard surface features. Examples of some of these surface features are given with the human factors rationale behind their design
