Abstract :
This paper studies the use of MIMO systems for underground mine communication. Measurement campaigns using two different type of antenna have been made in a real gold mine. Furthermore, the channel is characterized in terms of channel correlation, and capacity. Results suggest that in such scatter-rich environment, for LOS scenario the directional antennas have been shown to provide significant suppression of multipath and a corresponding increase in the correlation that consequently decrease the channel capacity.
