A project is underway to construct an IKBS for fault diagnosis in a process control system, able to cope with both single and multiple faults, and which generates explanations describing the reasoning underlying a particular diagnosis. The authors identify the styles of interaction. They discuss a prototype diagnosis system and a problem involving a gravity fed water rig
