Abstract :
Crozier, Falconer and Mahmoud (1992) suggest using short-block data detection methods on fading time-dispersive communications channels. They consider linear block estimation (LBE) and decision feedback block estimation (DFBE) where it is necessary to solve near-to-Toeplitz linear systems for the data vector estimate. In the present paper they show that such linear systems have computationally efficient solutions. It is also shown that such systems may be ill-conditioned, but a method of detecting such ill-conditioning is presented
