  • Abstract
The author describes the Durkee cement plant expansion project which was successful in meeting the five goals anticipated at the onset of the project. Ash Grove has added state-of-the-art equipment and control systems in a compact design that will enable the Durkee plant to meet the demand of a growing Northwest market well into the 21st Century. The project, from initial concept to startup, took less than 22 months and was an excellent example of cooperation between plant personnel, the equipment manufacturer and contractor to bring a major project online in this short a period of time. The effort has resulted in a plant that has met or exceeded all guarantees. The design incorporates equipment and technology, which will ensure energy efficiency, low maintenance costs, high operational availability and environmental compliance
