Abstract
Toshiba developed an all solid state 50 kW VHF TV transmitter and an all solid state 30 kW UHF TV transmitter in 1985. The technologies embodied in these solid state transmitters are described. The 50 kW visual power amplifier block consists of forty 1.5 kW visual power amplifiers, and the 12.5 kW aural power amplifier block is composed of ten 1.5 kW aural power amplifiers. These power amplifiers consist of power MOS field effect transistors (FETs) 2SK410s. The 30 kW power amplifier block consists of thirty-six 1.0 kW visual power amplifiers, and the 7.5 kW aural power amplifier block is composed of twelve 800 W power amplifiers. These power amplifiers consist of 2SC3702s bipolar transistors
