            Abstract :
Secondary plumes have become a major issue at cement plants, and regulatory agencies have increased their effort in enforcing opacity limits applicable to cement plants. This paper presents the results of trials at Inland Cement in Edmonton, Alberta, to abate the secondary plume, using innovative methods to remove reactants from the gas stream. These trials were completed with minimal capital and operating costs. The paper describes the chemical reaction, fate of ammonia and sulfur dioxide, and expected impact on process operations
