Abstract :
Microwave attenuators and phase shifters are key elements in phased array radar systems. In such applications they are required in large quantities per system which make them ideal candidates for monolithic technology. The author describes some initial results from devices designed by Thorn EMI and produced by a foundry (Plessey 3-5). The circuits are a 2-6 GHz 20 dB 6-bit attenuator using a segmented dual gate FET and a 5-6 GHz 22.5 degree resolution 90 degree vector modulator using segmented dual gate FETs and a highpass/lowpass phase shifter
