Abstract
Highly automated ultrasonic inspection systems under computer control are used in some cases where the cost of plant is high and the consequences of failure unacceptable. These inspection systems generate large quantities of data. To aid the ultrasonic engineer in the task of assessing such data the authors are developing a computer graphics system to enhance his productivity and help with the `housekeeping´. They have called it GUIDE (Graphical Ultrasonic Inspection Data Evaluation). A prototype of the system has been developed, as part of the design process, and is in use in the CEGB NDT Applications Centre
