  • Abstract
To simplify the modeling and analysis procedure of switching DC-DC converters, the authors developed a new analytical technique using the defining equations of the systems. The new approach is to formulate the defining equations of the switching DC-DC converters which specify the behavior of the systems in all switching states; then, the DC steady state analysis can be performed on these defining equations. For the AC small signal analysis of such systems, the perturbations are applied to the defining equations resulting in the AC small signal equations of the systems from which the AC small signal characteristics of such systems can be obtained. The new approach simplifies the analysis of switching DC-DC converters. As an application example, the basic conventional pulse-width-modulation (PWM) switching DC-DC converters (buck, boost, and buck-boost) are investigated
