Abstract :
In August 1985 Cellnet launched its audio-band data transmission service. Subsequently a comprehensive data test bed has been developed to assess the performance of data modems over the cellular network and assist modem manufacturers in their developments. Field test results include those for one modem which achieved a throughput of more than 300 character/s. Also a Celldata Interface Unit has been introduced to allow data modems already BABT approved for lines to be connected to the cellular network without further approval procedures
