Abstract :
B-ISDN will likely be required to support mobile communications in the future. The paper examines connection establishment in an ATM-based B-ISDN supporting PCN call handoffs due to user terminal mobility and introduces a new protocol for this purpose. The main advantage over previously proposed protocols is to balance handoff processing delay with the efficient allocation of communication resources
