  • Abstract
The number of electronic functions and components built into cars have increased on an exponential basis. Along with the engine starting and car lighting functions, there are now a multitude of other electrical components. These include components related to the basic driving functions, and others which make driving more comfortable. The importance of the battery within the car has increased correspondingly. Parallel to that development, considerable optimisation of the battery has been engineered. The author provides the relevant battery information. The connection between the state of charge of the battery, the specific gravity of the electrolyte and the voltage-in relation to all of the demands within the vehicle. The resulting possible methods of measuring or assessing this information are described
