Abstract :
The drive described employs a microcontroller to achieve its main functions such as two digital feedback loops. The first is an inner current loop, while the second is an outer speed loop whose speed error signal becomes the current demand. These digital loops are based on the derivation of an equation representing each loop and solving it using the desirable features of the microcontroller, one of which is the ability to achieve 16-bit multiplication or division within few microseconds. The DC drive consists of two fully controlled thyristor bridge rectifiers
