Abstract :
ESM systems have shown an insatiable appetite for processing power to handle ever denser and more complex radar pulse environments. In response to this, Racal Defence has developed a new ESM signal processor called SADIE which uses a new architecture that depends on window addressable memory (WAM) concepts to achieve both high performance and a compact solution. The implementation of these WAM concepts in a full custom application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is the key to achieving these objectives. The ASICs were developed as part of the Racal and MOD jointly funded VHPIC Application Demonstrator (VAD) project. This forms part of the VAD programme which is led from RSRE
