Enhanced display functions using a 3D graphics processor with integrated user interface system

The ideas that lead to the creation of a post processing and display system for electromagnetic fields are described. The system integrates the user interface with a mathematical function interpreter that contains a set of state variables which are maintained by the program. This allows scalar and vector functions of the solutions to be calculated and displayed quite generally. The software has been implemented on the latest Tektronix 3D graphics workstation and fully utilises this powerful graphics processor
