Abstract :
The new, liberal, telecommunications environment and the prospect of spectrum deregulation are having a major impact on those who plan and manage microwave networks in the UK. As both a large-scale user of microwave telecommunications systems and a major force in microwave planning and network management, BT is actively responding to the evolving situation, and a number of powerful computer tools are under development to support planning and spectrum management activities in the coming decade. One such system is PEACEMAKER, an integrated suite of computer models and databases targeted primarily at the peaceful coexistence of microwave systems. This system is a research project being undertaken jointly by microwave planning engineers within BT UK Communications (BT/UKC), and radio propagation research engineers at the BT Research Laboratories (BTRL)
