Abstract :
The author examines the practical issues of implementing electronic data interchange (EDI). In order to understand the implications of adopting standards like X.400 for EDI traffic it is necessary to understand the basic issues involved. The author raises some fundamental questions and provides answers which will give a better understanding of these basic issues
