  • Abstract
The applications of hydro-junction projects constructed at home and abroad show that, the problem of sediment in reservoir fluctuating backwater area will be more and more serious with the increasing of application years of the reservoir. If the incoming conditions of sediment in the upper reach change, corresponding changes will happen to the sediment deposition in the fluctuating backwater area. The suitable treatment methods vary with the deposition quantities and deposition positions. Therefore, it is necessary to study the fluctuating backwater area. Based on the movement characteristics backflow, a 2-dimension mathematical model of sediment is established, and the movement characteristics of water flow in backflow area is simulated and analyzed. The calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental data, which has theoretic meanings for the research of backwater flow characteristics and practical meanings for engineering application.
