Abstract
The goal of this paper is to determine the effect of the time variation of system impedance and voltage harmonics on the value of optimum LC compensator for power factor at buses nonsinusoidal voltage. The equivalent load impedance is also considered time variant and assumed to contain a large proportion of induction motors. Optimization minimizes the transmission loss and maximizes the power factor. The performance of the obtained compensator is discussed by means of numerical examples.
