The balance of the exclusive economic zone: Navigation, pollution, and compulsory settlement of disputes

This paper analyzes the nature of the balance between coastal state rights to control activities in the exclusive economic zone and the freedoms of all states to use the zone. It explores the difficulties in maintaining that balance and the contribution that compulsory third-party settlement of disputes could make in this regard.
